Blade shape also changes where and how the blade enters the water. A long, narrow low-angle blade will not necessarily feel like a short, wide high-angle blade even when both paddles carry the same 220 cm label.
When replacing a paddle you already like, compare total length, usable shaft length, blade dimensions, and intended stroke style. The number on the label remains useful, but it is not the only dimension that determines fit according to this experience-based shaft-length analysis.
